- On your iPhone X, tap Settings.
- Tap [Your Name].
- Tap Find My.
- To turn it off, toggle Find My iPhone (if the toggle is green it is turned on).
- When asked for your Apple ID password, enter your password. If you can’t remember your password, see How to reset your Apple ID password if you forget it.

There are dozens of services that claim to be able to help remove the lock screen from your iPhone X.
Over the years I have reviewed most of the iCloud lock removal services to find the best ones. I found most didn’t work so it is vital you use a trustworthy company.
I found the best service was offered by DirectUnlocks. Although not perfect, I found them to be the best of the bunch.
They successfully unlocked iPhone X smartphones for me and most of my readers. Although occasionally some readers claim the process fails. The good thing is that they got a refund when it didn’t work on their iPhone X.
Steps
For more in depth step-by-step instructions on ordering the unlock service correctly, see our full usage guide. Alternatively, here is a brief guide:
- Go to DirectUnlocks.
- Click Unlock iCloud on the menu.
- In the box, type in your iPhone X IMEI number. You can find the IMEI on your phone’s SIM tray.
- The model of the iPhone should be automatically found and shown on the screen.
- Click Unlock iCloud!
- On the checkout page, provide your email address and agree to the terms of service.
- Choose the payment method, then when prompted pay.
- A confirmation email will be sent with further instructions to complete the unlock.

Using an app
The iCloud lock can also be removed using an app, or software tool.
I have spent a great deal of time trying out a wide variety of apps with mixed results. Most are dangerous and can cause untold damage to your computer and iPhone – so choose wisely.
They all work in a similar way:
- Download the app and install it on your computer.
- Connect the computer to your iPhone X.
- Run to app and follow the jailbreak process.
- Once your iPhone X is jailbroken, run the unlock app.
Our recent review found the best Activation Lock removal app was iBypasser. It had a high unlock rate combined with a competitive price.

- Free trial
