How to turn off Find My iPhone on a phone that doesn’t work

You can disable Find My even if your iPhone doesn’t work for any of the following reasons:

  • It’s broken.
  • It has a cracked or damaged screen.
  • You don’t know, or forgot the passcode.

You can switch off Find my from any computer, another Apple device you own, or from a web browser on any internet enabled product.

All of these techniques wipe all the data from your iPhone. So if you want to keep your data you need to perform a backup before you turn off Find My.

Turn off Find My iPhone on a broken iPhone from Mac computer

You can switch off Find My on your damaged device from a Mac computer by doing the following:

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.
  2. On the System Preferences window, click Apple ID.
  3. On the left sidebar select your broken device.
  4.  Click Remove from account.
  5. Provide your Apple ID password.
  6. Find My iPhone will be switched off.

If your iPhone is broken, then you can switch off Find My from another Apple device you own by doing the following:

  1. On the other Apple device you own, open the Find My app. open find my
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap Devices. find my devices

  5. Tap Remove This Device,  then Remove.
