iPhone Mail Settings For Popular ISP’s (IMAP, SMTP, POP3)

iPhone will automatically provide the correct email settings for the following applications:

  • IMAP, SMTP, POP3 Settings on a smartphoneiCloud
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Google Gmail
  • Yahoo! Mail
  • Aol mail
  • Outlook.com email

You won’t need to do anything beyond adding your username and password for your email account and iPhone will do the rest.

If you use an email system outside this list, or you prefer to add the account manually you have to configure the Mail App with the correct settings. You will need to know the incoming mail server (IMAP) and your outgoing mail server (SMTP) and possibly, the port numbers.

This guide provides all the settings you need to know to manually setup your mail account on your Apple device.

How to manually add a mail account to iPhone

On your Apple device:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Mail and tap it.
  3. Then tap Accounts.
  4. Tap Add Account.
  5. Next, tap Other at the bottom of the list.
  6. Tap Add Mail Account.
  7. The default mail account type is IMAP but this can be switched to POP using the buttons at the top. Find out how to setup POP email account on iPhone.
  8. Fill in your name, email address, password, and a descriptive name for the account then tap Next at the top right.
  9. iPhone will attempt to look up your account details but will fail as it is not one of the mail account Apple can automatically configure.
  10. Fill in the incoming and outgoing server details including the hostname, username, and password for the email account. You can find these mail settings below.
  11. Tap Next at the top right.
  12. The account will be verified and, if the details are correct, will be added to your Mail.
